Do you have a great product that everyone needs? Do people fail to share your same enthusiasm? If you can say YES, you are not alone! In fact, I was once in your shoes and I personally know how frustrating it can be. Regardless of your product or service, we are all salespeople in a way, and unfortunately most of us stink at it! We have been taught to do it all wrong and are actually scaring away customers without even knowing it. So let’s look at a couple of things you could possibly be doing incorrectly, so you can make adjustments and start attracting more customers today.
Constantly in “Pitch” Mode
When you constantly pitch your products or services, guess what? People tune you out! Why have people flocked to social media and Facebook in particular? People are looking for new ways to socialize and connect with others. I doubt anyone joined Facebook and said, “Gee, I hope I get bombarded with at least 10 sales pitches today!” No, of course they didn’t. If you are looking to attract more customers, make sure you are posting a variety of helpful content for your Facebook fans and occasionally mix in your offers. When you become a valuable go-to source for information, your fans will pay more attention to what you are saying and your promotional posts will stand out and be much better received.
Asking for the Sale, BEFORE You Build Rapport
I get it….you are excited and you KNOW your product can help the person you are speaking with, but SLOW DOWN. If you want to sell lots of products, you have to be genuine and disciplined enough to focus on building the relationship first. People are more likely to do business with people they know, like, and trust. Focus on initiating conversations, replying to comments, asking questions, and genuinely caring and showing interest in others FIRST. People need to know that you care more about them and their needs, than you do about their wallet.
So if you’ve felt a bit stuck and confused as to why you are meeting some challenges when it comes to selling your product or service, take an honest look at your APPROACH. Perhaps unknowingly, you have been guilty of these common mistakes. If so, I certainly hope this is the personal breakthrough you need to attract more customers and sell more products.
Make it a great day!
