A blog can play an important role in marketing for any company regardless of business type, size, or industry. By writing relevant, key word rich, blog articles, your search engine optimization improves, leading more potential clients to your website. In addition to the improved SEO, consistent blogging keeps your readers coming back, allowing you the time needed to build better relationships with consumers.
Sounds Great, But Where Do I Start?
Many businesses have not incorporated a blog component to their site because they don’t even know where to begin. If that sounds like you, no worries, you are not alone. Here are a few tips that I personally use, when writing both my own blog articles and articles for clients.
Solve a Problem
When choosing a blog topic to write about, focus on solving a problem or providing a helpful tip, relevant to your clients and business. By writing helpful articles, your readers will continue to come back and begin to view you as the “go to” expert in your field.
Show clients who you really are by being yourself, even in your blog articles. In other words, be the best version of you! If you write your blogs in a way that is authentic to you, you will find the writing process is much easier.
Content is king when it comes to the success of your blog. Stick with topics that you can passionately write about and stay on top of news related to your products, services, or industry.
Stick to Your Message
Your company’s image and message should be reflected in every blog post you write. Stay on message with topics relevant to your clients, rather than writing about a topic that has nothing to do with your company or industry. For example, my blog posts are geared to help small business owners get better results with their social media and marketing, so you won’t catch me writing a blog article about the upcoming Presidential Election. I’ll stick with what matters most to you- helping you grow your business!
Pre-determine the frequency of your blog posts. Are you going to blog once per month, once a week, daily? By being consistent, your clients will begin to look forward to your next post.
If you focus on serving your clients’ needs and solving problems through articles, your blogging venture will be a success! Are there other tips that make your blogging easier? I’d love to hear from you!
Until next time,
